Entering the field of nursing can be extremely exciting, as it can lead to a long-term, rewarding career. Although the overall prerequisites for LPN degree programs may vary according to the institution of interest, the basic requirements are usually a high school diploma or GED with a minimum GPA of 2.0. Prospective students should demonstrate proficiency in reading, writing, and mathematics. The level for proficiency in reading and writing should meet or exceed college level. In terms of mathematics, the minimum requirement is an understanding of basic algebra. Additionally, certification as a CPR provider is mandatory.
In order to complete an LPN program, your school of choice will include various courses in nursing fundamentals, the biological science, and pharmacology, to name a few. All LPN programs will require clinical rotations in a hospital setting as part of the graduation requirements.
